Top 5 Natural Home Remedies for Wrinkles

When skin ages  it loses its collagen, which is the skin’s main tightening protein responsible for creating a smooth surface. This makes everyone susceptible to the fine lines, sagging and hollowness that appear on the face. Wrinkles as this is called, are normal and part of our lives because when the time is right they will just begin to appear. It is actually very worrisome when they begin to appear at the wrong time and probably in the wrong places.

Before now,  wrinkles were considered as a sign of aging. But, nowadays, it is no longer a surprise if they start appearing even if you are in your mid-20s. Hectic lifestyle, stress, lack of sleep, and improper diet often lead to skin damage, essentially resulting in wrinkles.

There are so many drugs and creams out there which are on sale that are believed and maybe proven to remove and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Over-the-counter (OTC) skin creams containing vitamin-A derived retinoids, antioxidants, and a protein called collagen can reduce fine wrinkles and even out skin texture and color.  Another solution is to go under the knife, lasers, or chemical peels, but they’re expensive and only lessen the appearance. So before you seek medical treatment, you might want to try home remedies, some of which are scientifically proven to improve the appearance of wrinkles.

Today I will want to share with you guys a simple home remedy for wrinkles which I have watched my parents and friends use over the years and it has worked like charm for them. You really don’t need to spend a fortune to remove those wrinkles and appear young again. Here is all you need;

1. Use of coconut oil:

Coconut oil is rich in antioxidants and can prevent the formation of free radicals that are one of the primary causes of early aging. It’s a natural skin-softening moisturizer and contains emollient, which helps reduce wrinkles that have already developed.

The use of coconut oil as indicated here will give your skin a natural glow and radiance. Using it often will help to fade wrinkles and lines as it is moisturizing and hydrating for the skin. It restores the skin’s elasticity to a great extent.

What to do:

  • Massage coconut oil in a gentle circular motions on the affected areas for a few minutes.
  • Leave the oil on overnight.
  • Repeat this every night before going to bed until the desired effect has been achieved.

2. Use of Carrot:

The signature color of carrots comes from carotenoids which are antioxidants. Beta carotene is one of the carotenoids present in carrots which are a vitamin A precursor. It is beta carotene that is mainly the chief contributor to the benefits that carrots give us. Beta-carotene is converted into vitamin A in the body which helps slow down ageing by increasing collagen which is responsible for a smoother, supple skin.

What to do:

  • Boil some carrots and blend it into a paste with some honey.
  • Apply it on the affected surface and rest for half an hour before washing it off.

Note: The above is done just in case you don’t fancy consuming carrot juice. If you do, then just blend the carrot and drink its juice every morning and night.

3. Use of Egg White:

Egg white is the clear liquid contained within an egg. While egg whites might contribute to a small improvement in the skin’s appearance, the thin membrane that separates the white from the shell is more effective.

What to do:

  • Whip up several egg whites in a small bowl.
  • Massage onto your skin, allowing to sit and dry at least 15 minutes.
  • Rinse off with warm water.

4. Use of Aloe Vera:

Aloe Vera is one of the oldest plants known to provide many amazing benefits for skin, health, weight loss and more. It is a succulent plant species of the genus Aloe.

Aloe Vera gel is an enriched source of vitamin E, which is a booster for the skin and works excellently in combination with egg whites. Aloe Vera also heals dull skin with its antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds .

What to do:

  • Make a paste of Aloe Vera and gently massage it on your face.
  • Leave it on for half an hour and wash off.
  • Apply twice a week.

5. Use of cucumber:

Cucumbers are a curious vegetable. Made up of mostly water, cucumber is nutrient rich not just for the body but also your skin. Cucumbers are packed with silica, a precursor to collagen, helping to fight those wrinkles and fine lines you struggle with.

Cucumbers also help to maintain the elastin in the skin. Basically, as we age, the production of elastin decreases. Cucumbers help to slow the breakdown of elastin. This in turn helps to tighten your skin, promote cell rejuvenation, and build collagen.

What to do:

  • Scoop out the seeds from the cucumber and grate the rest.
  • Squeeze the grated cucumber to extract the juice.
  • Gently cleanse your skin and apply this all over your face.
  • Let it dry naturally and then rinse with water.
